Forwards:

Saku Koivu (Center)
The heart-and-soul of the Canadiens, Koivu fought off cancer and then went on to play in all 82 games for the first time in three years...should be healthy for the start of the season and should once again be a very productive player in all facets. Projection: 22 goals, 44 assists, 66 points.

Richard Zednik (Right Wing)
On his way to finally realizing his potential, Zednik posted his very first 30-goal season while topping 50 points for the first time as well...is ready to continue his ascent this year, but improvement will be limited unless the Habs trade for another elite player. Projection: 34 goals, 27 assists, 61 points.

Yanic Perreault (Center)
Extremely consistent year-to-year, Perreault seemed on his way to a career year with 19 goals in the first half, but faded down the stretch and finishing with just 24...barring an injury, will once again top 20 goals and 40 points. Projection: 22 goals, 22 assists, 44 points.

Jan Bulis (Left Wing)
After two disappointing seasons, finally emerged as someone who the Canadiens can count on for scoring from the left side...is expected to play on the top line with Koivu and Zednik, which makes him a nice late round pick in deep leagues. Projection: 17 goals, 26 assists, 43 points.

Marcel Hossa (Left Wing)
Spent second straight season shuttling back and forth between Montreal and the AHL, Hossa again showed flashes of brilliance but not much in the way of consistency...should stay with the big club for most or all of this season, but has limited value unless he sticks on the first line. Projection: 15 goals, 18 assists, 33 points.

Defenseman:

Andrei Markov (Defense)
Exploded in his first full season by more than doubling his career goals total while chipping in with 37 points...is on the cusp of becoming a top offensive threat from the blueline and should have an easy time improving upon last year's totals. Projection: 14 goals, 32 assists, 46 points.

Patrice Brisebois (Defense)
Having spent his entire career in the bleu, blanche et rouge, so much was expected of Brisebois and he's delivered so less...is awful in his own end and thus is slowly becoming more of a powerplay specialist. Projection: 6 goals, 27 assists, 33 points.

Goalies:

Jose Theodore (Goalie)
The Hart and Vezina trophy winner from two years ago, he struggled mightily last year never getting into a groove perhaps a victime of too much pressure...off-season chaos involving his family could make for another long year, but he's too good to not rebound strongly. Projection: 29 wins, 2.32 GAA, .923 SV%.

Mathieu Garon (Goalie)
Considered by some to be even more talented than Theodore, Garon was tremendous in limited duty with the Habs last year but signed a modest deal ensuring another year of being a backup...if Theodore falters and the Canadiens show no patience, he will steal away the #1 job and won't look back. Projection: 5 wins, 2.43 GAA, .927 SV%.

Big Year Alert: Jose Theodore. Theodore's season was a disaster on so many different levels but he made a nice comeback late in the season which should carry into this year.

Don't draft: Patrice Brisebois. Brisebois has fallen out of favor by everyone in the city, including the team, the fans and the media. On the trade block for the past two years, nobody wants him because of his uneconomical contract.

Keep your eye on: Saku Koivu. The heart-and-soul of the Canadiens made a successful return from cancer, but has already suffered from a preseason knee injury which needs watching.

Injury risks: Patrice Brisebois (minor), Saku Koivu (minor).
